Donation & Refund Policy
Last Updated: September 13, 2026
The Soraya Foundation is grateful for every donation made in support of our mission. Contributions help provide scholarships, mentorship, educational opportunities, programming, and resources that support the individuals and communities we serve.
This Donation & Refund Policy explains how donations are processed, how recurring contributions may be canceled, and how refund requests are handled. Donations made to The Soraya Foundation are used to support the Foundation’s charitable mission, programs, scholarships, operations, and related initiatives.
The Soraya Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Donors should consult their own tax or financial professional regarding the deductibility of a contribution.
When appropriate, donors will receive an acknowledgment or receipt for their contribution.
One-Time Donations
By submitting a one-time donation, you authorize the selected donation amount to be processed through the applicable payment provider. We encourage donors to review the donation amount and information carefully before completing a transaction.
Recurring Donations
Donors may have the option to make recurring contributions. By selecting a recurring donation, you authorize the applicable payment provider to charge the selected donation amount at the frequency you choose until the recurring contribution is canceled. You may request cancellation of future recurring donations at any time by contacting:
Please allow reasonable processing time for cancellation requests. Canceling a recurring donation prevents future scheduled contributions but does not automatically refund donations that have already been processed.
Refunds
Because charitable donations are generally put to work supporting our mission and programs, donations are ordinarily considered final and non-refundable. However, we understand that mistakes and exceptional circumstances can occur.
Please contact The Soraya Foundation if:
A donation was made in error
An incorrect donation amount was entered
A duplicate donation was processed
You believe a donation was unauthorized
A technical issue resulted in an unintended transaction
Another exceptional circumstance requires review
Refund requests should be submitted as soon as reasonably possible after the donation is processed.
Each refund request will be reviewed individually.
If a refund is approved, the Foundation will attempt to return the funds using the original payment method. Processing time may vary depending on the payment provider and financial institution involved.
The Soraya Foundation reserves the right to deny a refund request when appropriate, including when funds have already been committed or distributed or when issuing a refund would conflict with applicable legal, tax, accounting, or charitable requirements.
Designated and Restricted Donations
Unless otherwise specifically agreed to by The Soraya Foundation, donations may be used where they are most needed to further the Foundation’s charitable mission. When a fundraising campaign identifies a specific scholarship, program, initiative, or purpose, the Foundation intends to use funds raised in support of that stated purpose. If circumstances make the original purpose impractical, impossible, unnecessary, or no longer consistent with the Foundation’s charitable needs, The Soraya Foundation may redirect the contribution to a substantially similar charitable purpose consistent with its mission and applicable requirements.
Donor Recognition
The Soraya Foundation may publicly recognize donors and supporters as a way of expressing our gratitude.
Donors may request to remain anonymous.
Donation amounts will not be publicly disclosed without the donor’s permission unless disclosure is otherwise required by law.
To update your donor recognition preference, please contact us.
Tax Receipts and Donation Records
The Soraya Foundation may provide donation acknowledgments or receipts for eligible contributions.
It is the donor’s responsibility to maintain appropriate records and determine the tax treatment of a contribution.
The Soraya Foundation does not provide individual tax, legal, or financial advice.
Events, Tickets, Merchandise, and Other Purchases.
Payments made for event tickets, merchandise, sponsorship benefits, or other goods or services may be subject to separate cancellation or refund terms.
Such payments should not automatically be considered charitable donations unless specifically identified as such.
Any applicable event-specific or purchase-specific terms will control when they differ from this policy.
Privacy
Donor information is handled in accordance with The Soraya Foundation’s Privacy Policy.
The Foundation does not sell or rent donor information for another organization’s marketing purposes.
